Hi! My name is Karli, more formally known as Karli in Wonderland on all of my social media outlets. I was born and raised in Litchfield County, Connecticut.
My parents separated when I was a baby and thanks to that I have a very large family. I am one of 5 siblings and luckily I hit the grandparent lottery and have very deep-rooted bonds with all 6 of them. My dad’s parents were really the ones who sparked my love for travel. They used to road trip and travel all over the country, often encouraging my whole family to rent large houses in New England for a week in the summer, or participate in camping trips.
When I was 7 my mom brought me, my sister and brother to Disney World. That was where I had fallen in love with the mouse. Of course, I was already in love with the characters from my favorite movies, but there was something so magical about being a kid and seeing what I saw on the screen at home, come to life in Walt Disney World. My mom sparked my love for theme parks, taking me to the local amusement parks and encouraging me to be brave and ride the coasters. She even encouraged my first trip down Splash Mountain!
My dad brought my younger sisters and I to Arizona when I was a teenager, where we took a road trip through the desert to Flagstaff to visit the Grand Canyon. We also visited places like the Outer Banks in North Carolina, and Williamsburg, Virginia.
When I was 18 I left Connecticut and moved to Winter Park, Florida, just outside of Orlando, to attend college at Full Sail University where I studied to be an audio engineer. During my time in Winter Park, I frequently visited both Universal Studios and the Disney Resort. When I would have a day off, my favorite activity was going to Disney Springs (back then it was Downtown Disney) and riding the busses to the Resorts. It was during this time, that my love deepened even more for the Orlando theme parks.
In 2007 I briefly moved back home to Connecticut before landing a job at a recording studio in New Jersey where I started as an intern and worked my way to the top as an engineer. In my third year at the recording studio, I met my husband. In 2010 we went to Disney World for the first time together and my husband proposed to me after “Wishes” on Cinderella’s castle. We were married at Lighthouse Point in New Haven, Connecticut; a venue that has a carousel. Our wedding had Disney touches throughout.
After our wedding, we honeymooned in Walt Disney World for 10 days and ended with a 4 day Bahamas cruise on the Disney Dream. We have visited Disney World 10 times together, cruised together, taken road trips up and down the east coast and more together… We love to travel.
I have lived in New Jersey for almost 13 years and now have a family of my own! My husband and I welcomed our daughter into the world in 2016 and our son in 2018. We took our daughter to Disney World for her 1st birthday, again when she was 20 months old, and again most recently with our son aged 9 months and daughter aged 3.
Like many families, Disney is our place, but it doesn’t stop us from visiting other destinations and theme parks. Our favorite type of travel is all-inclusive, cruising and theme parks. We’ve started checking destinations off of our list and are excited to see where our list takes us next.
